The Portal of Progression

Summer things should be fun, right?

…Being a non-mechanical, non-techy dude, I plunged into swimming pool maintenance with my eyes open and my talent closed.

There was the perplexing process of keeping the water balanced with just

the right pH, alkaline, chlorine, stabilizer and who knows what else. Then, there was the cleaning of the inground pool that included the vacuuming of the residue from the bottom of the pool, cleaning the baskets and the ever-daunting task of the multi-stepped backwashing, rinsing and bleeding the filter.

Tom, my pool man, kept saying, “You’ll get the hang of it.”

Six years later, I was doing it by feel in the dark. Ironically, I never used the lights around the pool because I hated the idea of attracting bugs. Many moons later, I would enjoy evening swims - whether by the moon or the lights and I don’t give one rip about the mosquitos.

Whether it’s the frightening, bewildering or the seemingly unattainable, there may come a time when what used to seem impossible feels like training wheels.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: The portal of progression is God’s way of showing us that the daunting transition of becoming like Christ is something that He is committed to.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV
