What You Really Want is For Jesus to Take our Side

THIS WEEK:Social Dialogue

Jesus doesn’t take sides. He is the side. We have to take his.

If Christ were in Minneapolis or anywhere that hatred and racism was extended as a norm, he’d overthrow tables or call the guilty “Hypocrites!”

If Jesus was watching violence erupt and rioters loot, injure and kill the innocent, he would shout, “Brood of vipers!”

And he’d probably have different answers to deep socio-economic questions than our polarized nation would imagine.

You could almost hear him admonish all of us, “A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.”

The collapse we are witnessing is because we want him to take our side.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Hijacking the gospel is something the devil does, not Christians.

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” John 18:37 NIV
