Opposites Either Attract or Attack

Opposites attract! Or, is that "Attack?" In the midst of pandemics and social unrest being ignited, infuriated and inflamed because of an election year, we might ask, “What’s a mother to do?” Do the opposite. When egged on, don’t take the bait. It’s natural to want to take up the gauntlet because we not only want to BE right, we want the challenger to admit that we ARE right. To not take up the argument might make us appear as the weak one or, worse yet, the surrendered one. The kingdom of God is absolutely the upside-down world where "a gentle answer turns back wrath" and the "evil is overcome with good" as kindness "pours ashes on the head" of the attacker. During an election year that causes us to walk on eggshells or get egged on, it appears that opposites can either attack or attract. PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Might God be using this volatile social era as a portal to heaven; a way of showing us that the upside-down looks pretty good from where He is sitting? A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger…Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”..When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, “Shall I kill them, my father? Shall I kill them?” “Do not kill them,” he answered. “Would you kill those you have captured with your own sword or bow? Set food and water before them so that they may eat and drink and then go back to their master.” So he prepared a great feast for them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned to their master. So the bands from Aram stopped raiding Israel’s territory. Proverbs 15:1 NIV, John 18:36 NIV, 2 Kings 6:21 NIV
