Insulting the Pride of an Owner: Part II

What on earth could have made me ask the proud owner behind his deli counter about the messy state of the street and sidewalk outside his business?

The streets weren’t his business. That was the job of the politicians and leaders of the city.

His business was offering six differing crusts for his perfected brick oven pizza and giving his city his very best for the last 3 decades.

The night of my unfortunate situation, customers continued to come bringing their own wine to what may have been the highlight of their week. They walked by the trash to the treasure.

He is the unsung urban hero who holds his head up high…perhaps the reason he doesn’t fixate on the trash just outside his door.
