A win-win out of tragedy?
It was a happy day that came out of a sad day. A black man had been killed by white cop. From that sprang a Sunday evening prayer meeting in an urban parking lot mixed with fairly equal parts of whites, latinos and African Americans.
There was worship and prayer…and a little opinion. It’s the latter where we all get into a no-win situation. But it’s also the place where we can get our bearings on how we can inquire of The Holy Spirit to get us to the win-win position of Jesus Christ.
There’s no doubt it will be a process and one that will hurt feelings across the board. But as people progress in their Christian faith, feelings take a back seat to welcoming varying views, admonition, and even correction performed in an incorrect manner.
Worship, The Word and prayer have always had a mystical interplay in the private and corporate lives of believers. And now, we have to add Christian discussion and truth into that mix.
Honesty can be blurted or thoughtfully formed and spoken gracefully. Within the Christian context is the safest way to arrive at a win-win.
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Social unrest and its accompanying discussion can be the entrance into the parlor of truth where Jesus has his hand on the doorknob.Â
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ…Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone…A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Ephesians 4:15 NIV, Colossians 4:6 NIV, Proverbs 15:1 NIV
