Birthdays Say "No" To Corona

Journeying to Jersey, I arrived in the nick of time for my sister Paula’s birthday.

As far as was reported by the media, COVID hadn’t stopped birthdays from coming around once a year.

Masks or no masks, we were determined to get to Federico’s Pizza and Restaurant. At the beginning of the pandemic, the owner of this establishment took out a large personal loan to insure that he wouldn’t have to lay off his employees.

The friendly waitress mentioned that various press accounts had brought in business; that his benevolent act “came back around” to her employer.

The fresh mozzarella on the Margarita pizza was superb as was the oversized side of broccoli. We took home half of the chicken dinner, as well.

Paula and I also took home more than a meal: birthdays and kindness are still served every day and pay no attention to pandemics…as it should be.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Trials and challenges still open up portals to heaven like no other.

In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations. 2  Corinthians 8:2-5 NIV
