What’s a soda got to do with eternity? Some would say if you drink too many you’ll find out sooner than later!
Actually, a friend named Denny Empie began setting up a table at public events, giving out a free soda to anyone who would fill out a survey entitled “What Do You Think is Required to Get to Heaven?”
As he attracted others to work the booth, many were reticent or down right scared of sharing their faith.
Denny had been a star athlete, a physical education teacher and a coach and he knew the secret to practice. He’d say, “Just show up.”
Before I began a writing career and doing written and video devotionals on the internet, I had to just show up. Was I a little bit afraid? Yes! Was I afraid of rejection? Yes! Could I list a lot of other excuses? Yes! Did the yard work need to get done just as I was about to type a first sentence? Yes, a thousand “Yes’s.”
It will always be courageous to share your faith.
Father God showed us the best way: He asked Jesus to “show up” two thousand years ago.
Aren’t you glad He did?
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: When we share our faith, we can be opening the doors of heaven for someone just as Jesus did when He figuratively or literally touched each soul He came in contact with.
