Cold War

ABOVE: No matter what timezone, some soldier is standing in the cold.

Winter itself can be the culprit behind many a soldier’s death – especially in wars like The American Revolution where you couldn’t even take Christmas Day off.

Such was The Battle of Trenton. Washington and his men struggled to get across The Delaware River through a moral-dampening rain and a developing Noreaster that seemed to widen the river which slowed down that famous crossing.

Moreover, it had been hard for Washington to procure shoes for his men for their march through that storm and many of their ragged-covered feet left behind a trail of red in the snow. It turned out the only deaths during that famous Christmas present to The Continentals were from frostbite.

That devotion and guts turned The Revolution around.Somewhere today, there are servicemen and women in the middle of harsh winter conditions… and they’re not turning around.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: The times that seemed cruelest is when history has been turned around. Is that true with your history?

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you…Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Isaiah 43:2 NIV, James 1:2-4 NIV

One more thing: If Portals has moved you, would you take just one minute to write a review on Amazon? It would mean a lot to me. Thanks, RJL
