Really...You Can Think of 10,000 Reasons

Portals to heaven is a way of deliberately looking for God in the present. Some may think He’s a little too crafty for their liking with hide-n-seek. However, perhaps the real issue is that we are not very accomplished at seeking. Even children get better at that game. Being accomplished at some extraordinary tasks is not possible for most of us. But being accomplished at seeking God is something everyone can do whether they have talent or education or means.

This week I am setting two challenges before you:

1) Begin a Thanksgiving Journal. (If you haven’t already.) When our brains connect with our fingers, a neuro-pathway is established in the same manner that guitar player learns after repetitive practice. (Journal either electronically or in paper form. When paper or computer is not available, a smartphone will do.)

Singer-songwriter Matt Redman penned “for all your goodness, I will keep on singing 10,000 reasons for my heart to find.”*

2) Don’t stop journaling until you have reached 10,000 reasons. Sometimes your pen will feel heavier than at other times. But this is actually an easy task. However, it may not be a short one.

There are selfish psychological, physical and spiritual benefits to being thankful. However, there is a greater reason and they are found in Psalm 103:

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Lift up your pen and your eyes.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.…Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV, James 4:8 ESV
