Adults in Make-Believe Land

When you were a child, did you ever make up a word or a little white lie and told it to a younger sibling and strung them along for a while?

Most have done that around Christmas - as adults. We tell kids there’s a fat man in a red suit that flies around giving them whatever they want.

Today, the adult lie for other adults is that the Monday after Thanksgiving is Cyber-Monday. What the blankety-blank is a Cyber Monday?

It’s a made-up story that tricks a lot of adults into thinking that they can get anything they want and that packages will fly through the air and land at their doorsteps - minus the fat man in the red suit.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Cyber-Monday are words that have shaped the reality - or should we say un-reality - of many. Without a firm grasp on Jesus-as-the-word-made-flesh, we will buy anything on any given Monday.

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish…Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will…For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. John 1:14 TM, Romans 12:2 NIV, 1 Timothy 6:7,8 NIV
