Those in the Autumn era of their lives are thinking about death because these mature years also bring about urgent-yet-kind reminders that we have an appointment with a graveyard that we must keep.
Perhaps through a regimen of physical fitness and good genetics, we can put off this literal dead-line the way we casually and yet pre meditatively call the doctor’s office to postpone that annoying check up that might tell us something we don’t want to know.
Like Adam and Eve, Autumn reminds of The Fall.
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: There is nothing like a deadline to take seriously our “call” that rebuffs the “fall.”
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing...For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. 2 Timothy 4:7,8 NIV, Ephesians 2:10
