Moms have a different view of Labor Day. They can remember each baby’s birth. One mother repeatedly (and I mean repeatedly) described in vivid detail a breach and the ax she almost used on the male OBGYN whom she felt “did not understand.” But moms also figure out soon enough that Labor Day doesn’t end in the delivery room. A ninety-year old mom with a sick sixty-five year old son is every bit a mom as the young mother rushing her broken-limbed child to the emergency room.
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: God-as-a-parent watches over and directs us from womb to tomb and He sure uses the pain we’ve seen in our moms to help us understand his enduring labor of love.
I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you…Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.
