The sun rises over a lone fisherman on the Jersey Shore as he casts for the umpteenth time. But he’s not counting. You don’t count when you’re on vacation.
There he goes again. And again.
He swats away a seagull trying to steal his bait from a pail a few feet behind him.
There are few footprints in the sand at this time of the morning as the beach as already been raked by a pre-dawn monster machine that the town has paid for through the innumerable beach badges they sell through the season.
Why do people beat the sunrise when they are on vacation when they are supposed to be sleeping in?
Everyone has a different definition of “vacation.”
To outsiders, this fish-less fisherman might as well be building castles in the sand.
Or perhaps, that has been left for me.
PORTAL TO HEAVEN: The manner in which people spend their vacations or free time or retirement can be one of the most eye-opening portals or more like a darkened, cloudy day off with no apparent sunrise.
And he said, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'...Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind…the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace...So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.
