Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore. Psalms 133:1-3 ESV
Recently I was at a prayer meeting with some pastors where one of the pastors had a problem with his back and hip. It seems as if he had slipped on some ice, caught himself and pulled a muscle. We gathered around him, laid hands on him and prayed for him. I remember times where I threw my back out or I pulled a muscle in my lower back. I’d then go to a chiropractor and he would give me an adjustment, helping everything to go back into alignment and relieving the pain.
As we were praying for that pastor, I was thinking about alignment, I thought of Psalm 133 which talks about Aaron being anointed and the oil running down from his head to every portion of his body, covering all of his robe. Consider this, if Aaron had his head sticking out when the oil poured on his head it would run off his head onto the ground. Aaron needed to be standing upright, in right alignment for the anointing oil to go over his whole body. The psalmist goes on to say that kind of unity, that kind of blessing, that kind of anointing, that's where the Lord commands His Blessing. Wouldn't it be great if the Church were to come together as one, under the alignment of Christ as our Head experiencing the blessing God desires for us? Shouldn’t this really be our prayer?
Prayer: Lord move in Your church causing your church to come together as one body so that the world would believe that you were sent – and that we, Lord, would bring honor and glory to You. Help us Lord to be in the right alignment. We ask this in Your Name Jesus, amen.
