Rich, Kind & Cute: Every Mother's Dream

(THIS WEEK: Wise Men Still Seek Him.)

COMMENTS: awaken@Sonrisen.com

Dear Readers:

Portals to Heaven in book form: an economical Christmas gift. See ad below.

BB

He was going to drive into heaven in his Maserati.

He was likable. His charm was beyond compare. But it gets better.

He was actually kind. Kind to his mom, and specifically kind to his hundreds of employees.

Oh, did I mention he was good looking? He was a cross between a really cute boy and a devilish handsome guy.

He came to me and said his GPS was bugging out on him and could I give him some directions?

I told him how to get to where he wanted to go, but it would pretty much cost him his kingdom. He went from being boyish-got-the-world-by-the-tail to sulking. He left without even saying goodbye.

My next three visitors came to me and brought these crazy-cool presents gift-wrapped beyond the pale.

They actually knelt down and kissed me. My mom and dad were blown away.

Unlike that first dude, they gave and left with nothing yet got everything.

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Unlike the Rich Young Ruler, The Three Wise Men offered themselves along with their gifts. When we give over our gifts to God, we see the face of Baby Jesus. We see the God who GAVE His only Son. It’s sort of like when you are a kid and you spend all week using your crayons to draw a picture book for your mom and dad and are excited to give them this as a Christmas present…but you get the fancy bike under the tree.

‘Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’…Jesus felt a love for him…he was saddened, and he went away grieving, for he was one who owned much property…For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.…After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

See Mark 10:17ff (NASB), Matthew 2:2,11 (NASB)
