Even if You have to Sweat It Out

Imagine any relationship where both you and the other person have put the time in and there’s a connection that’s going to withstand anything.

It’s like the determined little boy with the iron will who means it when he makes the pinky-finger oath. It’s the football lineman who is not going to let you tackle his quarterback. It’s like the couple who resolutely stand fast when their children try to play one parent against the other.

I’ve been blessed with friends and relatives and acquaintances that have my back. But scripture says that there is one who is “closer than a brother.” If you were to have even one of these, consider yourself blessed.

That was Satan’s dilemma when he stumbled upon Jesus in the desert. Scripture says that Jesus and His Father are one. That’s pretty hard to split up. But the devil still tried.

Jesus’ history with His dad just happened to go back to…well, it actually had no beginning or end. Now that’s what you call a track record.

Our very reason for walking this earth is to learn to walk with God. Keeping step, learning and growing, experiencing and sharing forgiveness, serving, knowing and understanding His will and becoming one with His very heart is the express purpose for our existence.

The devil has been separated from God forever. His only objective is to make us as sorry as he is and put us in his same category.

But you and I have a pinky-finger oath with our Father…

PORTAL TO HEAVEN: Resolutely withstand the onslaught of deceptions and temptations that “The Father of Lies” throws your way and follow the one who resisted even when he didn’t even have a drop of sweat left in the desert. He carried that determined love to the Garden of Gethsemane where Satan’s test was met with drops of loyal and obedient blood.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord….and after you have done everything, to stand.
