Acceptance: Our Cheap Sell-Out
Nothing shouted like a whisper to a fourteen year-old transitioning from a Catholic elementary school to our public high school. Sitting in Algebra next to one of the cool jocks, I overheard him say something under his breath to a classmate about pot. He turned and looked at me and said, “Oh, you good boys don’t do things like that.” I was ready to sign in blood. Within a few years, I was into the party scene and accepted as one of the cool kids. Little did I know that I had
